Get a Reiki Attunement and Become a Reiki Master

Article by NP Dowling

Reiki is becoming more and more popular as an alternative healing art, which is why more and more people are exploring ways to become a Reiki master. Here we will discuss the steps involved ans well as some of the benefits if you choose to become a Reiki master.

First, let's clear up some misconceptions. There is a big difference between a Reiki therapy session and a Reiki attunement.

In a therapy session, a person with proper training is helping you to channel your energy in a way which optimizes energy flow for emotional and spiritual healing. Reiki theory specifies that every physical ailment has an emotional or non-physical element. And because conventional treatments generally only deal with the physical component, there is a gap in the healing process. A gap which Reiki can fill!

Indeed, Reiki has been a source of great relief for patients, even those with serious ailments. Cancer patients in a growing number of hospitals are being introduced to Reiki as a form of non-medicinal pain control, for example. For stress control and blood pressure reduction, more and more people are turning to Reiki as well.

For self-realization, this healing art is also very appropriate. Indeed, many people look on Reiki as the platform which brings many of the alternative healing arts together, because it incorporates many of the concepts of those other healing arts. Examples include the theory of Chakras, and energy healing through crystals. it is a great place to start to get an exposure to many alternative healing approaches.

Yet, you don't have to become a Reiki master for any of this. Many people only want to use Reiki on themselves, or they want to heal but not train others to Reiki. Only a Reiki master can provide the training and the Reiki attunements, but those who have completed lower levels of Reiki can heal and use Reiki for self-realization as well!

In a Reiki attunement, which is part of the process to become a Reiki master, a master (fully qualified) is attun! ing you to Reiki. What this means is that the master is helping you and showing you the way to awaken the healing energy that is already within you. You're not receiving energy, you're learning how to use your own energy for Reiki healing.

There are three levels of Reiki attunement, and your Reiki abilities increase with each level. The third level, or Reiki III, is the Reiki master level. If you successfully complete this level, then you have become a Reiki master and can provide a Reiki attunement to anyone who wants to invoke their own self-healing energy.

But even if you don't go all the way to Reiki III to become a Reiki master, the Reiki attunement that you receive at levels I or II allows you to heal yourself or others to varying extents.

With Reiki courses online it is very easy to familiarize yourself with Reiki and find out if it is for you. There are skeptics and there are true believers. And many true believers started out as skeptics, until they were exposed to some of the successes of Reiki healing.

Reiki (霊気 or レイキ?, English /ˈreɪkiː/) is a spiritual practice[1] developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, and uses a technique commonly called palm healing as a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).[2] Through the use of this technique, sometimes refereed to as "tenohira" (meaning "the palm" in Japanese), practitioners believe that they are transferring "healing energy" in the form of qi (or ki in Japanese) through the palms.[3][4] There are two main branches of Reiki, commonly referred to as Traditional Reiki and Western Reiki. Within both Traditional and Westernised forms of Reiki, there are three forms of degrees, commonly refereed to as the First, Second, and Master/Teacher degree.
